    Question Windows 7 SP-1 Failure 0x800f900

I also failed in installing sp1. My error is 0x800f900. I ran the system update readiness tool and it found nothing. I checked the log and it said something about KB979916 which was a Net framework update by I can't find it in windows update to uninstall. I tried to install it again and it said already installed. Jeff

I got the same error repeatedly, but after turning off my Avast av the installation completed successfully.

Quite often AV apps caused unexpected problems during installations. This is one reason why I download installation files, then shut off AV apps prior to installation.

Barje, If you want to uninstall KB979916, go to Control Panel > Programs and Features and click on View installed updates. You should find it there.

Thanks I don't think that's the problem. I tried to install the exe I downloaded in safe mode and still no good. Jeff
