lost itunes on Win 7 upgrade

I lost my itunes when I upgraded to Win 7, is there a way to find them on my HD? tried a search for *.itl (itunes library) but found nothing. GF synced my ipod to an itunes without any songs on it and everything was deleted.
no help from apple tech support

    Welcome to the Lounge!!

What OS did you upgrade to get to Win 7?

Did you backup your system before the upgrade?

upgraded from Vista and no backup (stupid) & (probably wouldn't have to ask this question if I had) I am thinking that the files (songs) are hiding somewhere and maybe can be found. got no help from apple people (Indian outsource) I know I didn't delete them.

I think you needed to de-authorize iTunes before the upgrade. I don't use iTunes so I'm not sure what to do now. Check some of the links at lost itunes library - Bing & maybe someone else can chip in.

Did you do a Windows 7 upgrade install or a clean install? If you did a clean install, you will find a Windows.old directory that has your old data files among other things.
You could also download Everything Search Engine and use it to search for one of your songs. It is faster and more complete than Windows Search unless you need to search within a file.
