win7 sp1 cost me 2 days in time, broke the hibernate function

thanks microsoft, spent 2 days fooling with sp1 win7. installed it, hibernate stopped working (was able to suposedly hibernate, but windows, upon startup, goes to "start windows normally", indicates itwas not shut downn right.

spent 1 day looking for solutions, thinking I broke it.

then re-loaded a backup image from 2/11/2011, and hibernate worked (pre-sp1)
re-installed sp1, tried hibernate, does NOT work

    toshiba portege tablet, M400

    i am leaving Sp1 uninstalled;
any info, solutions, help, would be appreciated.

I looked at the Scsiport Miniport KB article (2495523), but I have no idea what a Scsiport is, or if it is on my caomputer (I think I have a SATA drive in it, standard 2.5 inch drive for laptops??)

so, being wise (possibly), I did not install a patch that I know nothing about

Did you disable your AV before attempting the patch? This has been one of the problems discussed. MS also recommends shutting down all apps before installing the SP. Did you do this? Unfortunately MS cannot predict all hardware and software configurations that everyone has. For the vast majority of us the SP1 installation went very smoothly on multiple PC's. I would also suggest downloading the file directly from MS rather than relying on Windows Update.

    I too have installed SP1 > hibernate gives: BSOD: Stop 0x000000A0 Internal_Power_Error. Have tried: powercfg /hibernate /size 100 + /size 150, etc... nothing worked.
    Have reverted C: to pre-SP1 > disabled various stuff > and re-applied SP1 (3 times) - NO JOY.

    sp1 still screwy with hibernate

    1. did do full download of x86 (have win7 32) (I NEVER try do let the auto update do service packs
    2. did NOT disable AV
    3. DID disable all other stuff

    4. reinstalled couple times, it breaks hibernate.
    5. reverted back to a backup image of pre-sp1, hibernate works.
reveiw of internet reveals others with this issue also.

will retry down the road, but right now I need hibernate more than I need SP1

    very frustrating

    thanks for replies
