large files in Windows Media Player[SOLVED]

    Hi,
I have created large (7Gb) MPG files on an XP machine. When I transfer them to a newer computer these files will not open in Windows Media Player - I get an error message saying that WMP might not support the file type or codec.
Smaller MPGs (1Gb) launch with no problem. Both machines are running XP with the hard discs formatted NTFS. Could it be a missing codec? Would that allow playing of small files but not big ones?
    Thanks,

Thanks for that, Roderunner, the recommended codec pack cured the problem.
