Outlook Express not always sending messages

My wife is using Outlook Express V 6.0 to manage her earthlink and spa net email accounts. A couple of months ago when she would send email from either account most would send but some would be sent to her outbox and stay there. This issue is becoming more common and now most of her sent e-mails are not sent but sent to the outbox. 100% of the time she can go to the outbox and send the messages from there with no issues. Any thoughts?

    Win XP SP3 - broadband.

I use Thunderbird for my email and have never had this issue.

The outbox is just a holding area until the next time OE (or any mail client) is configured to send/receive. Have you checked to see if the time interval for send/receive has been changed?

Time interval is still 1 min. and send is set to send immediately.

I will change it to 10 min and then back to 1 min to see if that makes a difference.

Seems to work now (said with fingers crossed) perhaps reseting the pointer was enough.

What I have found when that happens it's usually the mail server of your internet provider is down that OE is trying to connect to is down.

Thanks, but I don't think that that's the issue. When it wasn't sent she would go to the outbox and send it with no problem - no more than 20 seconds elapsed. And the "working on line" message was on the bottom of the screen.

The same thing had happened to me at different times..
After awhile it just cleared up by itself when the mail server was back up or not busy..

It could be something else but I doubt it.

Could be right. I'll have to watch and see how long they stay in the outbox without being sent.
