How do you run the windows malious software removal tool

I keep seeing recommendations to run the WMSRT (Windows Malicious Software Tool).
Although it is installed through windows update there are no instructions on how to run it.

Does it run automatically in the back ground or can you run it manually if you can find the launch program?

The tool, once downloaded, runs in quiet mode automatically. If it finds a problem it will then provide details on what to do next. See this article fro MS on the Malicious Software Removal Tool.

    Smile Much superior antimalware "tool(s)"

Hi : I would not waste any time on the Windows Malicious Software Removal "Tool", when there are superior products, such as Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and "SUPERAntiSpyware", BOTH of which come in a FREE version .

See Malicious Software Removal Tool | Protect Your Computer for the Microsoft viewpoint. Also, see PC Hell: How to Manually Run the Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool for details of running the tool manually.
