    No video from dvd

If I go to 'MY COMPUTER', the video is listed.

If I select 'PLAY' with 'REAL PLAYER' I ger a message to lower screen resolution and update video drivers.

I have tried a new dvd drve, and got the same results.

    I would appreciate any suggestions.

    Thanks,
    Jerry King

    Thanks Roderunner,
I will try that, but I have several other programs such as Nero that don't work either.

    Hi Roderunner,
I have Inter Video Win DVD, Real PLayer, Media Player, Nero Show Tilme Essentials, Swiff Player and Photo Explorer. I don't use them for anything special. I just acquired them over the years. I think I have used each of them with no problems until now.

    Thanks,
    Jerry

Hi Jerry, personally I would remove all of them with the exception of Windows Media Player, although I never install it, its your choice.
You said you've installed K Lite codec pack, I would also suggest Winamp Free and Windows Live Mail 2009 it has the best build for using email and I also include in the install Windows Live Photo Gallery. If you need help afterwards I'll be here.

    Jerry:
I didn't see you mention here which Operating system you are running. However, as was stated Real Player can be a REAL pain to use. I would recommend as the others stated, uninstall every player with the exception of the Windows Player. Then make sure you have the most updated Service pack for the OS you are running first off. Next, make sure that you also have the latest and greatest Windows Player. Make sure then that your DVD and see it play. If you then still want all of those other players to also run, try to install each one, one at a time, and verify each time that each one works correctly BEFORE trying the next one. I might be that doing this, you can get Real Player to fire up.

I would recomend downloading and installing VLC Media Player. It comes with a complete set of Codecs and I can't find anything it wasn't able to play.

I second jwitalka's recommendation to try VLC Media Player. It's not my player of first choice, but I rely on VLC for when my other player fails to playing something. I also haven't found anything that VLC wouldn't play.

Hurrah! I installed the VLC player and now I can play videos. Roderunner, BillSheets, jwitalka, and johjve thank you very much for your help. I am curious why the other players that I have used for years no longer work.

    Thanks,
    Jerry
