    Previous windows installations

    I just upgraded to windows 7 home. would it be smart to delete the Previous windows intallations "windows.old"files

    Everything that was in your old installation is in that Windows.old file. You can open it and retrieve any data or other files you might want.

    It might be worth exploring before you delete it, but you can indeed delete it if you want.
    Create a fresh drive image before making system changes, in case you need to start over!

    Once you delete the windows.old folder you will not be able to go back to the old OS without a complete reinstall from scratch, but as in my case, I would never want to go back. As bbearren states you can open this folder and grab any data that needs to be moved to the new OS (favorites, pics, music, etc.). As you can see also, this folder is quite large. When you delete it, it will take a while. It also takes a while to empty it from the recycle bin.
