    Create Partition

I have a C and D partitioned drive. I wish to create an E partition as I need to restore files from an E drive. However when I create another partition in Windows, it assigns the letter I.

Is there any way I can force the new partition to be E?

    Thanks in advance.

I am not positive XP is identical but in Win 7 you can rename partitions and assign drive letters in the Disk Manager. MS has instructions on their web site.

Hi Ted_Oz, drive letters are assigned in alphabettical order, E: should be your CD/DVD drive. I don't recommend changing it to E: as it will cause problems. You can assign a letter thats not been allocated by scrolling down the list.

We could use some more info on the computer setup.
Where is the other E drive that you want to restore from?
    Is it on another computer?
What kind of info is on the other E Drive?
Can you simply copy from the other E drive to a new partition (of any letter) on the drive you want restore to?
What is on the drives E, F, G, and H on the computer you want to restore to?

Yes, you can reassign the drive/partition letters.

    Please give us more info.
