    Help with Windows Update

On my WinXP PC, I'm able to view the updates in Custom mode, and select the ones I want to install.
On my son's Vist64 machine, I cannot figure out how to select custom mode for the updates. Can you help?

Vista - How do I check for "Custom" updates?

Those options don't exist anymore in Vist and Windows 7.
All you need to do is leave the check mark in the updates you want and uncheck & hide those you don't.
You may also check Vista Updates settings for other options.

    Thanks, Clint.
Just to be clear, I have disabled automatic updates in Vista. When I manually go into Windows Update, will all the updates will be presented BEFORE they're downloaded, giving me the option of removing the checkmarks from those I don't want?
I want to avoid downloading any updates to the computer except those that I want to install.

Yes, when you have Windows Update check for updates it presents a list of updates available. You get to choose which to install.
