    Can't open .pps in winmail

After 8 hrs. I am frustrated, can't open .pps in Winmail. Reviewed similar problem outlined in non-outlook mail program below.
Opened control Panel, file types. There is no File Options, only General, View, and Search. Downloaded Powerpoint viewer.

What OS are you running. In Vista or Windows 7, go to Control panel > Default Programs > associate a file type..... Highlight .pps and click change program and select Powerpoint or the Powerpoint viewer. If XP, go to Control Panel> Folder options > File types and scroll down to pps and click the change button next to open with....

Jerry, Thanks for reply. I was incorrectly trying to follow XP instructions, but have Vista. Still, the Default programs lists Powerpoint Viewer for .pps and several other extensions. Did download newest viewer several times from microsft. File will open if I copy the file to c drive and open from there. Cumbersome, but perhaps a clue is hidden there. Thanks, Den

If Joe's link doesn't help, perhaps Why can't I view an attachment in windows Mail might provide an explanation.

Success! Changed the word "show" to "open" in the Registry and it works. Only slideshow11 had "show". So glad the article had a picture. Thanks to all. I have learned where certain things are in Control panel also. Den
