Hard drive shows continual hits and continues to fill up.

There are no active tsr's and Clean Disk must be used to resolve.

Drilling down: Control Panel\Performance Info & Tools\Open Disk CleanUP\Cleanup all user files\c:\drive\More Options\System Restore & Shadow Copies(deletes all but the most recent Restore Point)

    Thanks for any help.

Are you asking how to control the amount of mass storage used for Restore Points?

If not, are you asking how to determine what files are causing your drive to be consumed?

If you have inadvertantly left the Windows Resource/process Monitor turned on, turn it back off and/or close the process.
Task Manager-->Performance tab--> Windows Resource Monitor-->monitor, select "stop monitoring".

The above monitoring can be a potential culprit for the sort of behavior you mention and it's easy to forget you're running it until...
