IE 8 on XP ... slow starting.

I recently installed IE8 on XP. Wow. When it is first fired up it just sits there (top bar is on screen) for about 30 seconds before it is actually active. If I exit from the program sometime later and then start it up again it comes up in reasonable time -- mostly.

It has no add-ons or anything extra that I can see. Just just plain vanilla IE8.

    Why so slow starting?

IE8 is slow in starting compared to prior versions. How much RAM do you have?

That should be sufficient for XP. Do you have many other applications open when you open IE?

Have you tried using Task Manager or Process explorer to see what is happening when you start IE?

So far I don't see anything there that isn't supposed to be there. I'll keep checking when I have a moment or two.

Mostly I never use IE except to double check web layout ... or to check on Windows updates. Otherwise my choice is FF.
