I believe what Joe means is that after creating an Image you must occasionally test it by, you guessed it, putting in the Rescue media, rebooting to the app and do a restore. The only sure way to test an Image is to restore from it. You might want to back up your data through other means just prior to restoring in case something bad happens.

Oh, wow. That is scary, but I understand why it is important. If I have all our data backed up on the external hard drive, would it be safe there when I do a Rescue?

I do not see why not. The worst case scenario, Win 7 reinstallation, but that is, in my opinion a very distant long shot. In my experience these 3rd party apps do a very good job of creating and restoring from your HD. I use Acronis and store my Images on an ext USB HD. Never been disappointed.

on my pc pressing ESC will give me an option as to where i want to boot, different BIOS versions have different keys to be press.
