    *Strange* Auto-Corect in Wod 2010

If I type an 's in Word (so my Outlook mail as well) what I get is‘crème.

Don't ask me how, 'cause that's MY question.

I couldn't find it in the Auto Correct or the dictionaries -- but it HAS to be there because it's happening.

How can I find this and remove it?

    Hi there

So the truth is stranger than fiction !
What happens if you rename buildingblocks and normal template and restart word?

    Hi Chuck
I remembered that autotext entries were stored in .acl files as well as in normal. (Some bad experience losing some data when some staff migrated to office 2002 or 03 way back when ?). There was a utility to ease the migration task, which I found afterwards.

    Anyway look in your appdata\roaming\microsoft\office\

There should be a collection of .acl files there. Each is language specific. The one I use is MSO1033.acl (US English)

Geof, you're right, that was/is the file. Now, what if I had a bunch of custom entries. Would there be a way to export, edit, and the import the adjusted file into the now fixed copy?

    Hi

Dave Rado saved my hide years ago with his utility at his mvps site. This enabled backup and restore of autotext entries.

    http://word.mvps.org/faqs/customizat...utocorrect.htm

    also try this

You would need to check if the macro still works on latest versions of Word.

Worst case scenario is editing the offending entry with notepad I guess. Ughh!
I might do some more reading around this.
    Cheers
    Geof
