    traceroute command

not sure whether this is the right forum, but i would like to know how to execute the traceroute command.
i had called up the command prompt and typed "tracert website url"
then the next bit confused me as there were numerous options eg: APPLICATION, COOKIE, DESKTOP, RECENT, SEND TO " etc.

what i want to do is to trace the path info from my PC goes [route it take] to a website.

so what should i do after typing in the tracert ? which option should i choose?
    thank you
    spec

Just type in the website name such as "tracert www.microsoft.com" (without the quotation marks).

Note: you can find the syntax in a command window for any command by typing the command followed by a space and /?.

Did you open a command window first? In the Command Window type "tracert www.abc.com" without the quotes. Don't add a ?
