Blank Document Template Word 2010

I have a user who has somehow gotten text to show up in the new blank document template, and we have no idea how to restore the default blank. I've had her delete the template thinking Word would go back to the default, but the unwanted text is still there. Any ideas how to reset the template back to being totally blank?

Word 2007/2010
Locate and edit normal.dotm to remove the text.
Save and close

Word 2003 or earlier
Locate and edit normal.dot to remove the text.
Save and close
