    Mouse wheel just stopped working

    I use a Logitech MK300 wireless mouse/keyboard combo and yesterday, the scroll wheel just stopped working.

    I tried a Logitech wired USB mouse and the scroll wheel works.

    The unit is less than a year old and the wireless software reports a good battery. After that I ran out of ideas to check.

    OS is XP, CPU is an older Intel dual core (6600).

    I didn't realize how much I used until it didn't work. All three buttons work properly.

    Any suggestions, crew?

    1 Have a close look at the device to see if it is in need of a cleaning.
    2 Check the device properties in control panel to ensure that the scroll function on the mouse has not been inadvertently disabled.
    3 Check via device manager to ensure that a device driver is properly installed and does not appear to have a yellow exclamation point showing.
    4 Uninstall the device and reinstall it;
    1. Remove from device manager and boot computer to see if functionality returns to normal upon boot recognition install (plug and play).
    2. Uninstall device from control panel's programs and features section and uninstall from device manager. (reinstall from scratch)
