    WIN7 upgrade destroys XP activation

I recently upgraded a corporate version of XP using the family pack. Everything was fine WIN7 activated and after a week I was hit by a virus. Reformatted and reinstalled the corporate version it would not register as genuine. Get error message stating unable to complete validation process and this results in WIN7 not activating. What if anything can be done.

You should not have to reinstall XP to reload Windows 7. See Clean install Windows 7 with upgrade media and How to clean install from Windows 7 upgrade media.

    Hi,

There is an solution is that you need to clean the system complete from your pc before reinstalling it, so it would be fine if you could take the back of your sytem and complted remove the system by formating that drive and then reinstall it. Don't open any other drive before activating the windows 7.

It sounds as though it was not the Win 7 upgrade that caused your problems, but the virus. I agree that a reformat and reinstall is the way to go.
