When you say "nothing happens", exactly what do you mean? Does system lock up, or just not display Linking popup dialog box? You may have to re-install Office. If you put in your Office CD, one of choices is to re-install in case some component files are missing/corrupted.

Nothing meaning the system pauses for a second just like it does when you call up link tables properly and just when you think the dialogue box (to select the tables eto link) is going to come up... nothing.. as if you never hit the Link Tables menu item.. No lock up you can continue doing what ever you wish including trying to link table again or import tables or open a new database all produce the same "nothing" An existing database still seems to function in other ways however. Forms open reports run etc

Strange indeed. You might try checking the Microsoft Knowledge Base (<A target="_blank" HREF=http://support.microsoft.com>http://support.microsoft.com</A>). I'm afraid you may have to re-install, however.

Sad thing is I HAVE re-installed about 3 times. NO DICE. I am just desperate. At my witts end. Wish I had been a lumber jack

any more thoughts. Any methods of RE-installing that clean out the old install. It seems some dll or what ever is not missing (b/c a reinstall would replace it?? but if it is corrupt it may not get re-intalled.??

    >>Any methods of RE-installing that clean out the old install.<<

This would involve uninstalling Office, then installing from scratch.
