    It can be a serious issue for large corporations with many large machines.
    Especially if instead going to the landfill they go out to third world countries.

    Well Clint, it just amazes me that with all the privacy concerns you would think one of the privacy junkies, like the ACLU, instead of taking everyone to court over traffic light cameras would focus on the more serious issue like the hard drives in copying machines...

    Toshiba offers an encryption card for thier copy machines. I'm not sure about other manufacturers, but I wouldn't be surprised if others also offer something similar. The last place I worked for insisted that the hard drive be left with the company when a copier was replaced or retired. Then it was documented and shredded.

    Well, from the article the encryption is optional and cost about 500.00 and most companies don't get it because of the cost.
