    Weird file on data drive

    Hey all,
This folder mysteriously appeared on my data drive, not sure how it got there or why.
ed82c6a02594a940d270acba25dc - is the folder name.
Inside are the folders amd64 and i386. Both of them are inaccessible.

When I try and delete the folder, I get an access denied.
If anyone can give me information on this, and how to delete it it wold be appreciated.

That reads like it's an installation from Windows Update or Microsoft Update. They would normally be on the Windows drive or partition; because they probably also contain uninstall information, they can't normally be deleted.

Why it should be on your data drive I really don't know.

The folder is probably ReadOnly of less than 7MB. In the folders amd64 and i386, my files are from 2008. I think the folder name (ed82c6a02594a940d270acba25dc) changes with some MS updates. I just let it stay there.

The Windows installer picks the drive with the most space to create folders to use during software installation. The folders are normally deleted as long as the installation completes properly. Sometimes, the folders are not deleted. As long as you do not have any pending program or patch installations, you may delete the folder.
