Hello, I'm a most definite 'newbie' here and my question concerns PowerPoint 2003 and the update that came out yesterday(Patch Tuesday 5 10 11).
I found this on Woody's site last night: "If you install the PowerPoint 2003 patch MS11-022 KB 2464588 and all of a sudden you can’t open PowerPoint files, you need to install the hotfix offered in KB 2543241."

Now, my question is this: I don't have Office on this computer and there was no update for the stand alone PowerPoint 2003 that I do have...all I had in the way of updates was the MRT. Is there an update for my PowerPoint? and if so, where do I get it?

Do you have SP-3 installed? It is a prerequisite for those patches.

Yes, I have Windows XP SP3

I meant Office 2003 SP-3.

No, I don't have the program Office, just the stand alone PowerPoint 2003, downloaded from Microsoft,
that's why I'm confused as to whether or not there is an update for PowerPoint for me? or is it just for PowerPoint within the Office prog.?

Office 2003 Sp-3 applies to all Office programs including Powerpoint. See Office 2003 Sp3 for download link and more details.

It all went fine..now to do the laptop and it DOES have Office on it.
