    Exporting Contacts

I tried to export the contacts in my address book by going through the following steps

    1) I selected import and export
    2) I selected export to a file and then clicled on next
    3) I select Microsoft Excel 97-2003 and then clickked on next
    4) I then selected contacts and clicked on next
    5) I then selected finish and the export processs started and an error mesage appeared, which I have attached

It would be appreciated if you can advise me on how to resolve this matter so that I can export my addreses on Outlook 2007

    You can try running SCANPST.

Also, try disabling your A/V during the Export.

I just tried it and it worked as it should. But I have my contacts grouped. For example I have my "Contacts" that contains all contacts, then I have sub groups such as Golf Courses. I did exactly as you did but chose just the group Golf Courses and as I stated it all went well I also exported the main folder at it also went well. So you might try grouping the contacts that you want to export before you export.
    Just my $.02 worth.
    Thanks John

To run SCANPST, shut down Outlook, use Windows Explorer to navigate to the folder in which Office is installed (default for Office 2007 is C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12, double click on SCANPST.EXE.

How you disable A/V depends on which A/V program you run.

    Hi Joe

I thought that the problem would be resolved when I double clicked on Scanpst.exe

When I click on Scanpst.exe, it asks for the name of the file you want to scan. I want to export the contacts, so i presume this is the file that I want to scan. Where do I locate this file or which file/files do I need to scan and where will these be located

    Regards

    Howard

Outlook keeps all your items (mail, contacts, appointments) in a PST file (e.g., Outlook.pst). This file usually is located deep in your profile folder, e.g.,

    c:\documents and settings\username\local settings\application data\microsoft\outlook
    c:\users\username\appdata\local\microsoft\outlook

    Hi Joe

I double clicked on Scanpst.exe and scanned the personal folders.pst. The scan picked up several errors and after running the repair, I was able to export my contacts
