Angry HP Upgrade Killed My HP 4440 All In One Printer

So I got online and like a dope turned a functional HP printer in a doorstop.
After upgrade downloaded and installed it did not recognize printer.

I thought I would uninstall and retry, I did and then went to original install disc and it said I had newer software installed (the upgrade) so it would not continue. I have no HP showing in program files or anywhere I can see but it says it is there. I will never purchase another HP product again and I should have known better this time as the amount software garbage load from HP is mind boggling. I sent an email to HP, no answer yet and when calling the support they want 37.50 to talk to me from India. Just curious as to whether anybody else has had similar problems.

Have you tried to do a system restore to a point before you installed the update? This should fix the problem if you have restore point before the update available. The other thing you can do is to search your programs directory for HP folders and delete them {assuming you don't have any other HP hardware}. Then run CCleaner to clean all the HP entries out of your registry. Then try using the original disk to reinstall the printer. In the future when uninstalling I'd recommend using Revo Uninstaller as it will clean up all the junk that the standard uninstaller tends to leave behind. YMMV.

Yes I did try the System Restore and it said it could not be restored. I did go into the program files and deleted the HP folder. I am using a program called Your Uninstaller 2010 that I started using in 2005 and it has done a great job, this is 1st program that has not been uninstalled properly, but there is no glimpse of it there either. I never liked the add/remove windows job.

Interesting I just went into start menu and then programs and I found another HP folder there can this also be deleted.
