WLM crashes my Internet connection

Hi

I have Windows 7 on my laptop and whenever I try and use Windows Live Messenger, it crashes my internet connection. Infact, it goes further, it crashes my router pretty much continuously.

If I want to use Messenger I have to use my Win XP PC.

Anyone got any ideas why it should do this?

What version of WLM?

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling WLM?

I have, several times and it has happened with the last couple of versions.

I have Malware and Anti Virus Scans running daily and updated daily.

What are you trying to do with WLM?

If you are trying a video chat perhaps you need to update your video drivers?

Check the settings of the firewall in the router; test with the laptop wired to the router with wireless disabled temporarily. Take the laptop to a friends and test again.

Not doing Video chat.

Checked all router firewall settings and carried out various tests.

Turns out that the Router crashes only when the wireless laptop is connected to WLM and the XP PC is turned on which is connected to Router by ethernet.

We have also reported it to the Broadband provider and they are looking into it now.
