    Visual C++ Updates

    I chatted with an MS "expert." Why do I need these Visual C++ updates? The information message is cryptic. It could just say, we found this product on your machine or your programs use Visuall C++ and you need this. Instead it thinks I'm a tech expert that can make this decision. And why is it redistributable if I have home computers? Doesn't that just weight it down? I'm not redistributing it.

    The redistributable part is just the small piece used during run time that is needed to make the product that uses Visual C++ work correctly. Windows update would not offer the update unless the C++ run time modules were already installed on your PC.

    That's exactly what I wanted to understand. The Expert, like so many others, was unable to get the point as you did. thanks
