    Pivot chart formatting options lost upon data refresh (Excel 2002 SP3)

    I've got a pivot chart with several data series, and when I refresh the chart data, any changes to line colours and weights that I've made are lost, reverting back to the default. Is there a way of stopping this?

    Hi there,

    I'm not familiar with your version of Excel, but in 2007;
    1. Select any Cell in the table, so that you can see the Pivot Table Tools Group
    2. Select the options Tab
    3. Select Pivot Table | Options
    4. Find the Layout and Format Tab
    5. Find the checkbox labelled 'Preserve Formatting on update' and select it. Click OK
    6. Try refreshing your Pivot Table and you should retain the formatting.

    Hope this helps.

    It's a long standing issue that was finally fixed in 2007 - see this MSKB article.

    I'm using Excel 2002, and that option was already checked, but the macro option worked, so thanks to you both for your help.
