Win 7, 64 bit Ultimate - eveything in "devices and printers" disappeared??

I've got a Fujitsu Lifebook with win 7, 64 bit 4GB RAM running bitlocker. my company just installed McAfee EndPoint encrytion on the servers. my laptop got simple applet to handle the token. my pc is going nuts. everything in the Devices and Printers folder disappeared and now every window that opens up says "(not responding)" in the header. windows explorer also keeps locking up.

    help please.

    thanks.

Have you tried removing the applet? Does the problem go away?

    telebiz,
Is this machine a company owned machine or a personal own machined set up yo be used on a company network?

If it is a Company owned machine, then I would have the Company IT support handle this issue.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

I have the exact same problem on my 6GB i7 HP pavilion. The problem appeared without an associated s/w installation far as I know. I can see the full list of printers from applications' print dialogs, but not in the control panel window. I can print to my local printer, the only one attached at the moment. The message at the bottom of the Devices and Printers window says 0 items. I get "can't print" errors when I try to create a pdf from the pop-up menu in windows explorer.

I saw another post on this general topic that suggested deleting ...system32\spool\printers, but I can't find an equivalent folder in my 64-bit Win 7 pro.

Make sure Bluetooth Service & Bluetooth Support Service are activated & running (no idea WHY this is important).

That is the correct folder for 64-bit Windows. To maintain the maximum backward compatibility in 64-bit Windows the 64-bit "stuff" is in System32 and the 32-bit "stuff" is in Syswow64.
