Distributing a Toolbar Button and Macro to users (Excel 2000 / 97)

Hi guys,
I've done this before in Word by modifying our standard normal.dot and distributing it to the users PC's. But I'm sad to say I'm stumped on how to do it in Excel. Is there an equivalent to normal.dot? I've seen there is the add-ins and xlstart directories but I don't seem to be able to make it happen by putting files in there - I'm guessing I'm missing something obvious..

Essentially I have two issues.
1. I have written a macro and assigned it to a toolbar button on my PC. However when I click the button it attempts to open the file with the macro in it and prompts to enable or disable the macros in the 'new file' it is opening.. I'm guessing this would go away if I could store the macro in some form of 'default user environment' or perhaps tell excel the file is safe? (as its seems fairly unprofessional to make the users enable the macros each time)
2. How can I distribute this toolbar change and the related macro to other PCs on the network so that by default this new toolbar button will be available to them when they start Excel.

Thanks in advance for any assistance .. and please let the solution be not too simple so I don't feel like a complete dolt

Cheers,
Steve.

You could distribute the macro in Personal.xls including WorkBook_Open event code to insert the toolbar button in the user's menus if the button does not exist. See the later parts of this thread for some advice from MVP Brooke on modifying Excel toolbars and buttons.

Thanks for the quick response John

I started searching through the 22 odd pages of Excel messages but decided to save some time at that point in the hopes someone knew..

Kind Regards,
Steve.
