Converting a Password Protected Document

I am a Windows 2000/Word 2000 user. I'm trying to open a document that is in WordPerfect format but is password protected. I know the password. Word tries to convert the document upon opening before it asks me the password. As a result, I get an error saying "Cannot convert password protected documents." Any suggestions on how to open this document? (BTW, I don't have WordPerfect)

You can email it to me. I will not be able to get it back to you until Monday, though. If you decide to send it, don't forget the password too! techsupportgirl@home.com

Re: Converting a Password Protected Document

I just ran into this issue with a client how as a "couple of dozen" Word Perfect password protected documents which need to be converted. Word Perfect has been off their system for almost a year. What is the trick for converting password protected documents?
