    Windows Updates

Where is the file that has the updates? I am curious as to how much space these take up over time. Do I need to install updates for Microsoft Office v. 2007 or 2010 when I only have v. 2003?

What file are you referring to? There are no update files in the WS Lounge Forums that will tell you how much space updates will take over time.

If you have downloaded any compatibility packs that allow you to open files in Office 2003 that were created in MS Office 2007 or 2010, then you do need to allow updates to be installed if they are presented via Windows Update. If any trace of either of the two later versions are detected on your hard drive or keys in the Windows Registry exists for Office 2007 or 2010, updates will be offered.

The actual update files are downloaded to Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download. Once you have confirmed that the Windows is working OK, you can safely delete these.
