Catalyst Control Center

For the past several days, I keep getting a message that the Catalyst Control Center Monitoring System has stopped working. Can a Lounger tell me how to correct this? I Googled the term, but found the information confusing.

From what I did read, it looks as if I may have let HP download a driver update, thinking HP must know what my new-ish HP computer system needs - and despite my misgivings about anything to do with drivers, thanks to this Lounge and the Patch Watch.

Any suggestions welcome!

Do you really use Catalyst Control Center? If not, disable it from starting by unchecking it in the startup tab of MSconfig. Its not required fro the video card driver to run.

I would use What's In Startup (scroll down a ways to find download link) to delete the CCC from it's startup position if you do not plan on using it. Using Msconfig will disable it, but Msconfig is generally considered a trouble shooting aid rather than the best place to shutdown apps.

Great, thanks. To be safe, I used What's In Start Up and deleted it from the list. All should now be well. Thanks for your help! I LOVE this Lounge!
