    IE 9-Protected Mode

My OS is Win 7 Pro 32 bit with SP1 and all updates installed.

In IE 9 options Protected Mode is ticked, but whenever I open IE it refers to Protected Mode as Off. How can I rectify this.

    Advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks and regards,Roy

    Hi Joe,

I had disabled UAC, so assuming enabling UAC would sort out the Protected Mode problem I enabled it. I was asked to restart, but when I did just got a black screen.I restarted again from my System Repair disk, and Startuo Repair found no problems.I then restarted in Safe Mode but this just took me back to the same screen with the same options as the System Repair disk.Apart from System Restore,is there anything else I can do to solve the black screen problem? (I was able to open Task Manager).
    URGENT advice would be appreciated.

I am having to send this from my friend's machine-email mozart2@maltanet.net

    Thanks and regards,Roy

    Hi Joe,

I would appreciate it if you would look at the following thread in Windows 7 regarding the UAC settings problem:
