    formatting data after importing

Attached is an example of imported data, where column A and B contain merged cells which correspond to data in column C - ~.

I need to unmerge any merged columns to work with the spreadsheet and would like to figure out how to auto fill the missing cells with the correct corresponding unmerged data.

    Any ideas?
As always thanks for your help!

Select the range of the cells
Format - cells - Alignment(tab) uncheck "Merge cells" [ok]
    With the cells still selected"
Edit - goto special, select "blanks" [ok]
The blank cells will be selected. In the active cell, enter an equal sign (=) and with the <Up-arrow> key select the cell above, confirm with <ctrl>-Enter, and all the selected blank cells will have the formula to look at the cell above.

Select all the values in columns A&B (and any other columns that have formulas to convert):
    Edit- copy
    Edit - paste special...
    Select "values"[ok]
the formulas will be converted and you should have what you want...
