Paragraph number in Word 2000 (2000)

    Hello:

Has anybody had any problems with the paragraph number in word 2000. We are in the process of moving to word 2000 and we notice is that when we run the macros that were created in word97 in word 2000, the paragraph number are all set to 1. All macros are using the "wdNumberGallery" to generate different types of number styles.

Is there a way around this. Any help on this would be appreciated.

Re: Paragraph number in Word 2000 (2000)

Believe it or not, the numbering in Word 2000 is (slightly) improved over Word 97! That isn't saying much, though. I understand that some more improvements were made in Word 2002, but not yet enough to fix the situation.

Word's automatic numbering is based on the list templates gallery. This will be different on every machine and will change over time on the same machine. That is a problem.

See by John McGhie and <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/Numbering/CureListNumbering.htm> Cure Word's Numbering Problems with a Dose of VBA by Dave Rado (unfinished but good links).

You may want a stiff drink or two after reading these. Hope they at least help you know that (1) your confusion is warranted (2) you are not alone and (3) there are things that you can do, even though it is painful to have to do them.
