    File and Folder rights

In now trying to put all my files back on a Windows 32 box, I've encounterd a problem:

I have a second drive that I copy different stuff to for storage. Now, in trying to get those things back to my main drive, Windows won;'t give me access. It says I need permission.

I went in and made sure that I owned those folders, and that I am listed as an administrator, but still no go.

If I log in as the Administrator, I can get at everything fine.

What xcaused this, how do I fix it, and how can I prevent it from happening again?

Hi Chuck, I had a similar experience not so long ago, mine included being unable to edit text on them. I made a same name folder on another HDD for each, transfer by copying or moving to it. Deleted the originals, and put them back. The event was upgrading from XP - Vista, running as admin., or taking ownership attempts failed.

Take ownership at the root of the drive and let the change cascade through all folders, subfolders, & files.
