Is there some type of automatice file replacement inWindows 7 so that if changes are made to a file, specifically imageres.dll, it will be replaced?
When that happened the firsst time I thought I was going nuts, so I redid the changes, and darned if it didn't happen again.
How can I stop that from happening?

2011-06-08 20:15It is a protected file so Windows will try to restore it. Even if you successfully change the file a service pack will replace the file. Also, a patch for Windows Explorer is likely to replace it.

2011-06-08 20:56That's where you can modify the start sound...And it doesn't replace it quite Joe. Instead of putting back the original, it just shuts it off. And this is new, because I had done this before and up until about a month or so ago it was working fine.
