    IE 9 64 bit version

When IE 9 was first pushed out on Windows update I recall seeing an article saying it had problems in the 64 bit version. Cosequently I held off installing it. Anyone have any comments on whether it's now OK to install?

    Thanks for any advice

You should go ahead and install IE9. If you have a 64-bit version of Windows you'll get both the 32-bit IE9 and 64-bit IE9. The 32-bit IE9 will be the default browser. Since most browser add-ons have not yet been updated to 64-bit you'll want to use the 32-bit version anyway. You can use the 64-bit version of the browser if you care to but remember that Microsoft put the bulk of their time & effort into the 32-bit version for this release. You may not see the same performance gains in the 64-bit version and it may have other issues as well that are not present in the 32-bit version.

Many thanks for the reassurance. The PC in question is at my church so next time I'm there & it's not Sunday I'll do it

If you have a 64 bit OS, you will get both versions. If you click the Start button (or equivalent) and the All Programs, at the top of the list of available programs you will have two links to IE, one of them clearly identified as the 64 bit version. Also, the Help->About menu for the 64 bit version clearly identifies it. So, if you have no identification, that means you are running the 32 bit version.
