Setting Junk Mail folder to delete SPAM

I've set up my auto archive settings for my Outlook 2003 Junk Mail folder to delete the messages in there once a day.

The setup seemed straight forward but nothing is getting deleted.

The SPAM message filter works fine and dumps them into the Junk folder OK, but Outlook doesn't seem to be deleting the messages there daily.

I don't leave Outlook running 24/7, do I need to?

    Thanks,
    Ron

    Ron,
Some good mail can be flagged as junk, I would only empty it manually.

There is no need to leave Outlook running. Check your general autoarchive settings to see how frequently it is set to run.

OK, the general setting was 14 days. So I need to set that to 1 day even if I can set the auto archive properties on the Junk folder to 1 day separately?
    I guess I'll see.

    Thanks.

Yes you need to have autoarchive run at least as frequently as the shortest setting for that setting to really have an effect.
