    Question Visual Studio

Windows Update has Security Updates for VS 2005 & 2010. My question is should both be on the same computer? Also, is it needed (I only use Word from the Office Application) and if I don't, can the older one be removed?

Since you did not specify the KB article I can only guess that the updates are for the some runtime pieces of visual studio. I recommend you install the updates. The updates would not be offered if the affected software was not installed.

Joe, I'm fully aware that I only get updates for installed programs (learned that the hardway).

The KB articles I'm speaking of are: Visual Studio 2005 KB 2967125
    Visual Studio 2010 KB 2467173

What I want help with was 'should they both be installed on the same machine at the same time'? Sometimes the older one should be removed as both are not needed.

I thank you for your reply, but additional information's requested.

The Visual Studio runtimes are similar to the .NET runtimes in that you can have more than one version installed at the same time. Different programs could require different versions of the runtime. I recommend you install both patches.
