Problem with Homegroup not being recognized by one laptop

I have 2 laptops running Windows 7 Home edition and the anti-virus,etc. package from CA. I have an Epson printer also. Everything is on a wireless network. I set up a home group on one laptop. It looks ok. The problem is the other laptop is not recognizing the home group and won't let me join it. I turned off both laptops and the printer, after rebooting the router turned both laptops and the printer back on. Still same problem.

I have two computers, slowly migrating to new computer. New is 7 home preium, old is Vista. I have installed 7 home with homegroup. My notebook has 7 basic and recognizes homegroup but will not join. I have tried your suggestions to Junior member. no avail. May I too have some help? If I have entered into this discussion wrongly, I apoligize, but I new to this.

Homegroups are only for computers running Windows 7. Your Vista PC can not participate in a Homegroup.

I'm sorry I did not make myself clear.Even though I'm migrating, I am setting up the new windows 7 as my main computer, My netbook is windows 7 basic, it will not join the new w7. I have now migrated to new W7 Home Preium, main computer and I still can't join with the netbook. Sorry to bother you again.

Here is a detailed description of how to join a homegroup: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...uter-join.html

There may be some steps that, somehow, you overlooked? Don't forget all computers must be on the same workgroup, to be able to join a homegroup.

Habmex, are you using Windows 7 firewall on your Win7 netbook, and your other Win7 machine, or a third party firewall? Windows 7 firewall adjusts itself for HomeGroup use, whereas third party firewalls can be problematic with HomeGroups.
