Fake Antivirus masquerading as Windows Update Attacks through Firefox

PCWorld has an interesting article about another fake Antivirus scareware ploy targeting PC users through Firefox browsers. It seems the scareware does a very good job of masquerading as a Windows Update notification.

I had one recently that reportedly came from MS Windows live Mail but asking for personal info verification. It looked very good. A couple of minor grammatical errors, but nothing major, except that no legitimate warning or email will EVER as for personal info to verify anything. This is the key. If it asks for something be suspicious. Most of these phishing attempts require us, the users, to do something. The best security schemes pale in comparison to the biggest threat, us pushing our mouse buttons to activate something! Always be suspicious of unsolicited offers. They are most likely fakes. Always question things you receive in your inbox!

By the way Gerald, congrats on your promotion as well!
