    Keeping a Drive Mapped

I have an external drive that has a partition that is mapped to a letter.

    Fine.

But it appears to "go to sleep" and then lose the mapping. I checked my setting, and there's nothing in the USB device settings to turn off the USB.

How can I keep this drive awake so that the mapping sticks?

    Regards,
    Chuck Billow

The only way to keep it awake is to access it. Modern USB drives have a sleep timer so that they will power down when not accessed with a certain time period. You'd have to be able to change a setting on the drive to change the sleep timer. You may be able to find a utility somewhere on the internet for your specific model. However, I'd be very leery of messing with drive settings.
