    CheckSUR Tool Help

Call me stupid, but after d/ling and installing the tool, I can't figure out how to run it. I've done web searches and can find no link on how to do this. I've searched my hd for checksur.exe and it doesn't exist.

Also, which sp1 do I download? The one I did d/l want to install windows symbols. What's up with that?

    TIA

You have to download the correct version for your system at Microsoft web site. I have included a screen shots with the correct 2 downloads marked (x86 for 32 Bit, x64 for 64 Bit)

I would instead use the Win 7 Upgrade Advisor tool!

Thnx for the graphic. That's kinda what I thot after looking at that page again. BUT, what about the checksur tool. It is strongly recommended to use that before installing sp1 for a variety of reasons.

When you download and install the System Update Readiness Tool a scan is run automatically. See the "Update Information" paragraph in the KB article.
