    Losing Connection to Wireless Router

I have a win7 laptop up the stairs from the router (linksys610n) and it is constantly losing connection to my home network/internet. I need to step through a resolution.

Does it lose connectivity when it is closer to the router?

    Was either device moved recently?

If this is a new occurrence check for a new wireless device or a device that got moved closer to the router.

This is one thing I thought of. I did move the router, but one would think since it is now closer, through the ceiling, to the laptop, that it would be better. Sometimes it works for a while and so if a person uses it near the router he wouldn't know if it was placement or just dumb luck that it worked during that period. But I'll keep this one in mind.

You may be receiving Wifi interference from your neighbours so changing the Wifi channel on the router may help.

inSSIDer is a free scanning tool that let's you see the local channels in use.

I should let everyone know that my cable modem was failing. Once it clearly crashed, I bought a new modem and all the issues disappeared. Never saw one cause so much trouble.
