    Mapping lost on USB drive

I have a folder on an external hard drive that is "network-named", and then mapped. It works fine -- until I restart.

Often then, not only is the mapping lost, but apparently it is because the sharing settings are abandoned as well -- the folder is showing as "not shared" when inspected, which is undoubtedly the root of why the mapping is lost.

Why are the sharing and thus the mapping being discarded?

    Regards,
