    OFFICE XP (2002) Activation Problem

I had to do wipe my hard drive and reinstall Windows 7.
I then reloaded Office XP (2002) (Word, Excel and Power Point). The activation wizard won't allow activation by internet, and when I select the telephone option, NO telephone number is displayed.
Error message: "We are unable to process your request at this time. Please try again later or contact a Customer Service Rep by clicking OK and selecting the telephone option (0xb017).

Thank you for that web site, Ted. I just finished talking with Microsoft and they will not help me unless I pay them $50! It's their product, and it's their requirement for me to activate, but they want me to pay THEM??? Ridiculous. My next computer is an Apple. I've said that every time I get the BSOD, but Microsoft has just pushed me into seriously changing. It's nuts, but I'd rather fork-out a few thousand dollars for something that is customer supported, then give Microsoft $50.

You won't see any phone numbers until you supply your country. Are you given the opportunity to enter the USA as your country when you select activate by telephone?

    Hi Joe -
The phone number does not come up after entering my country. I've been searching the internet for any one else who may have had the same problem. I found a solution on answers.microsoft.com ( http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/o...c-68b599b31bf5 ).
    Office is now activated.

Feel kind of silly ranting about switching to Apple now that Office XP is working...

    Office XP actiavtion through chat

Phone number is not showing because it's for Windows XP.

But hey, you can now do it through chat!! Their chat agents are kind enough to process this even if Office XP is allegedly not compatible in Windows vista and 7

Choose chat support from this link:
    http://support.microsoft.com/contact...arch&ln=en-us#

All they need is your Installation ID. Then wait for them to give you a Confirmation ID. Your Office XP should then be activated!!
