    My Desktop Is Too Wide!

I somehow screwed up my desktop and it is now too wide and extends off the right side of my monitor. I have tried every setting in the Display Control Panel and cannot fix it. Any suggestions?

Try your monitor controls. Sound's like the horizontal centering control is too far right.

That's not it. I can move the desktop left and right but I cannot make the entire desktop fit on the screen at once. The monitor does not have a control to reduce the vertical or horizontal size adjustment.

Are you sure? - that's sounds pretty unlikely.
Some monitors have LED indicators along the bottom with liitle icons showing the function of the control buttons. Often two indicators on together give additional functions, and this is not always immediately obvious.
    ??
Otherwise, some video cards have advanced software control of screen size and position - this would normally be accessible through Desktop > Properties > Advanced - but could be a separate prog altogether.

There is one that reduces the width of the display but it has a limit of how small it will make the display and it's at the limit already so, I can make it bigger but no smaller.

You are set up as a panning display. This means that your desktop size is set up larger than your display size.

Right Click the desktop. Select properties. And somewhere in there (exact location depends on video driver) you will find the setting you need to change.

Try booting in safe mode, then follow Ian above.
