msss_media32 cd does not boot

I downloaded the mssstool iso file and burned a cd image using Nero.
I can see the files and folders on the cd. But when I start the PC,
(Win xp sp3) it does not boot from the cd but into win xp. The cd
drive is first boot device. Any idea why I can not boot from the cd ?
Is there another way to get the cd programs to run ?

Hi j-norton, and welcome to the Lounge!

Did you happen to open the iso image and copy its contents to burn with Nero? If so, that is why the CD will not boot. If this is the case, right click on the original .iso download and select "burn with" and choose Nero as your program to use. Nero must burn the .iso file rather than the .iso file contents in order to boot.

If you want, you can download a free .iso burning tool named ImgBurn here. I have seen some reports with Nero problems burning .iso images. I have never used Nero, so I cannot advise you more on the program. Once installed you can right click and select "ImgBurn" to burn your CD.

Hey Admin. Thanks for a quick reply. I ran ImgBurn and the CD booted just fine.
ImgBurn is such a nice piece of software, I just had to make a donation.
